The Hednesford shop thrives thanks to the generosity of the local community. By donating your pre-loved items, you’re directly helping to fund free, specialist care for patients and support for their families.
With your help, our shops raise over £1 million a year towards our care.
What we can accept
We welcome a wide range of good-quality donations, including:
- Furniture such as sofas, armchairs, dining tables, wardrobes, and beds
- Homewares including ornaments, kitchenware, and decorative pieces
- Clothing, shoes, and accessories for all ages
- Books, DVDs, games, and toys
- Electrical items with a plug that are in working order

What we cannot accept
For ethical reasons and legal compliance, we do not sell the following items:
- Broken or damaged goods
- Electrical items that are faulty or without a plug
- Items that need gas
- Upholstered furniture without the correct fire safety labels
- Toys without a CE or UKCA mark

Furniture Collection Service
Donating large items couldn’t be easier with our free collection service. From sofas and dining tables to beds and wardrobes, our team can arrange a convenient time to pick up your furniture straight from your home.
Every item is checked for quality and safety before collection, and once it’s on our shop floor, the proceeds go directly towards funding hospice care.
Smaller donations like clothing, accessories, and books are also very welcome and can be dropped off directly at any of our shops.
Volunteer at Our Hednesford Shop
Our Hednesford shop is powered by our wonderful volunteers, and we’re always looking for new people to join the team. Whether you’d like to work on the till, sort donations, or help with displays, we have flexible roles to suit different skills and schedules.
Current roles include stockroom assistants, merchandising assistants, cashiers, and more. Volunteering is a brilliant opportunity to meet new people, pick up new skills, and give something back to your community while supporting the vital care work of Katharine House Hospice.
