Join us for an evening of open conversation to help you prepare for the future.

At our Dying Matters Awareness Week event, members of our team will be giving short talks, followed by time for questions and open discussion. You’ll hear from our counsellors, nurses from our Inpatient Unit and our hospice chaplain.

Together, we’ll explore important topics to help you feel more informed and supported:

  1. Anticipatory grief – what to expect when a loved one is dying
  2. Stages of death
  3. Bereavement & grief counselling
  4. Spirituality & chaplaincy

Refreshments will be available before and after the event.

The event will take place at our Therapy and Wellbeing Centre on Thursday, 8 May from 5.30 pm to 7.00 pm.

Anyone is welcome, however spaces are limited. Please call 01785 254645 to book.

Why does talking about dying matter?

This event is part of Hospice UK’s Dying Matters campaign which takes place from Monday, 5 – Sunday, 11 May and encourages people across the country to talk more openly about death and dying.

Javier, our Family Support Team Lead, said: “This is an important annual event that encourages open conversations about death, dying, and bereavement across communities.

“We hope that these kinds of conversations become more comfortable and natural when families and friends have a loved one with an incurable illness.

“The Family Support Team can offer invaluable support during these challenging times by providing emotional guidance, practical advice, and a safe space to discuss your feelings and concerns related to end-of-life care and grief.

“We can help you navigate difficult conversations, understand available resources, and cope with the emotional impact of loss.”

To book a place at our event, please call us on 01785 254645. Spaces are limited.
