Light up a Life to remember loved ones

We are inviting you to come together to remember loved ones by dedicating a light on our Christmas tree.

For more than 25 years, Light up a Life has been a cherished tradition at our charity, bringing comfort to families at a difficult time of year. Each dedication is both a personal tribute and a gift, helping to fund specialist care for local people living with incurable illness.

One regular supporter shared, “I do it every year. It’s a lovely tribute to lost loved ones.”

Bringing comfort

Javier González-Fritz, who leads our Family Support Team, said:

“Light up a Life is not only a symbolic way to honour loved ones, it also funds the vital care we provide for families, many of whom may be facing their last Christmas together.

“Without the support of the local community, we wouldn’t be able to provide the care that we do.

“Last year alone, our Family Support Team delivered nearly 2,500 bereavement sessions and 1,500 counselling sessions, thanks to the generosity of supporters.

“By dedicating a light this Christmas, people are not only honouring a precious memory, but also helping us bring comfort to others, so that no one has to face illness or grief alone.”

Light up a Life Service

Patients, family members, volunteers and staff are all invited to join us for our Light up a Life Service. We gather at the hospice where names are displayed in our Book of Lights and the tree is illuminated in remembrance.

Join us on Sunday, 7 December at 5 pm

Long-term volunteer, Jean, shared her thoughts:

“The Light up a Life service is truly humbling. Families of all ages come together in this beautiful act of remembrance, and I see just how much it means to them.”

Thank you
