Laurelie inspires community to put the kettle on for hospice care

A Staffordshire schoolgirl who organised a tea party in memory of her dad, is inspiring others to do the same.

Saying thank you 

Year 5 pupil Laurelie raised more than £2,000 by hosting a tea party at her primary school, supported by her classmates, teachers and family. Her dad was cared for at our hospice and Laurelie wanted to say thank you for the support her family received.

Now, we’re inviting people across the community to host their own Care for a Cuppa event to help more local families receive specialist hospice care.

Whether it’s a coffee morning with neighbours, tea and cake in the garden, an office tea break or evening drinks with friends, every gathering can make a difference. Each event will help raise vital funds for our charity. And help us continue providing specialist care and support for local people living with incurable illnesses and their families.

Anyone can take part, including individuals, schools, workplaces, clubs and community groups. Events can be held at a time and place to suit.

A simple cuppa can make a big difference

Corporate and Community Fundraiser Andrea Pugh explains:

“Care for a Cuppa is a simple way for people to come together, have fun and make a real difference for local families. Every cup poured and slice of cake shared helps us continue providing compassionate care for people living with incurable illnesses, while supporting those closest to them. We hope people across our community will get involved and host their own event.”

Laurelie said: “The hospice looked after my dad so well and supported all of us as a family. I wanted to do something to say thank you and help other people who need the hospice in the future.”

She hopes her fundraiser will inspire others to get involved and show how a simple idea can make a lasting difference.

Every pound raised through Care for a Cuppa helps our charity continue providing specialist care for people living with incurable illnesses, supporting patients and those closest to them in the hospice, at home and in the community.
