We really appreciate every donation, but there are some items we’re unable to accept for safety, legal and practical reasons. This guide explains what we can and can’t take, helping us make the most of your generosity.
What we can accept
- large and small furniture
- homewares and bric-a-brac
- electrical items complete with a plug
- collectables and antiques
- clothing
- handbags, shoes and jewellery
- gym equipment
- books
- CDs, DVDs and video games
- toys and games
- nursery and children’s equipment with original fixing & manufacturer’s manual.
What we can’t accept
We really appreciate you wanting to donate to us and taking your time and consideration to do so.
We’re sorry we can’t accept every donation… although we’d like to.
Our experienced staff know what we struggle to sell, and the safe disposal of unsellable items costs us funds which could be going directly to care services. For ethical reasons and legal compliance, we do not sell the following items:
- damaged furniture that can’t be sold
- toys without a CE or UKCA mark
- weapons
- items that need gas
- faulty electricals or items without a plug
- soft furnishings without fire and safety labels
- broken or incomplete items
- machinery without instructions
- poor condition bicycles
- real fur and ivory
- personal safety equipment
- food and drink or alcohol
- part used cosmetics, perfume toiletries
- children’s car seats or booster seats
- sunbeds and tanning equipment.
