Palliative care nurse Clare Cooper will be walking in memory of her dad and the many patients she’s supported as she joins this year’s Walk to Remember at Shugborough Estate.

Clare, a Palliative Care Nurse Specialist (PCNS), lost her father in September last year. He was cared for by our hospice’s community team, Hospice at Home Team, and also our Inpatient Unit Team.

“I’m walking for all of my patients, and also personally for my father,” Clare said.

“It meant everything to me and my family that Dad received expert, compassionate care. I see every day how important this support is, and I was so glad he experienced that too. This walk is my way of saying thank you.”

Clare is part of our Palliative Care Nurse Specialist (PCNS) Team, a team of seven specially trained nurses who support people with incurable illnesses. They care for patients with complex needs, help manage pain and symptoms, and provide emotional support to both patients and their families.

She’ll be walking alongside other hospice staff, with colleagues from across the organisation also taking part to honour loved ones and the people they’ve cared for.
