Katharine House Hospice has received a 5-star food hygiene rating this year, matching the top score it achieved last year.

The award follows an inspection by an Environmental Health Officer from Staffordshire County Council, as part of the Food Standards Agency Food Hygiene Rating Scheme.

It reflects the high standards maintained by the hospice kitchen team, which includes Cooks Gary and Steve, bank Cooks Jade and Maxine, and bank Catering Assistant Sally Ann.

Lynne Simpkin, Support Services Assistant Manager, praised the team’s ongoing commitment. She said: “We continue to achieve 5-star ratings thanks to the dedicated work our staff do day in, day out. Our kitchen team are just fantastic.”

The rating highlights the consistent care and attention given to food safety and hygiene in the hospice kitchen. It also reassures patients, families and visitors about the high standards at the hospice.

Cook Gary said: “It’s a real pleasure to work here and cook for our patients. We’re proud of the food we prepare, and it’s rewarding to know it supports their care every day. Achieving another 5-star food hygiene rating is a great reflection of the standards the whole team works hard to maintain.”
