Events mark 35 years of support

05 September 2024 | View all news

We’re holding four open events to thank the local community for 35 years of unwavering support.

Our events will take place in early October, as part of Hospice Care Week.

Hospice Care Week is seven days of activities to raise the profile of hospice care across the UK.

This year it coincides with the start of our landmark 35-year anniversary, a milestone only made possible thanks to you – our community.

Join us to see our facilities, enjoy complementary therapy demonstrations and treatments and a chance to talk to professionals.

These events are just the start of 12 months of anniversary activities. We will also be sharing lots of memories and stories about how our care has had an impact on people’s lives.

Why come?

Hospice at Home Manager at Katharine House Hospice, Denise Sharratt, said:

“For 35 years the local community has supported our charity with generous fundraising and selfless volunteering.

“We want to give people a chance to find out more about how this support has, and will continue, to help people.”

“As a local charity we know how important it is to be at the heart of the community.

“We rely on donations to keep our doors open and ensure our compassionate and expert care remains free of charge to those who need it.

“Meeting people at our open days will be a good way to thank our supporters personally.

“Hospices aren’t just about death and dying, we help patients with symptom control and improve their quality of life.

“Many patients who come to us continue living at home for longer.

“We want to ensure as many people as possible can access our help.”
