Local DJ Tim, known as TJDJ, has turned feel-good daytime discos into a powerful way of giving back, raising nearly £4,000 to support our charity.

Turning music into meaningful support

When Tim saw first-hand the difference our care makes to people living with incurable illness, as well as their families. he began organising his popular daytime events. His discos, bring people together for a good cause.

“The care provided by Katharine House Hospice is phenomenal,” he says. “The staff go above and beyond to make both patients, and their families feel comfortable and supported, especially during the most difficult times.”

A personal connection

Tim has a personal connection to our charity. His mum volunteered with our Outpatient Team, helping to welcome patients, serve refreshments and support activities at our Therapy & Wellbeing Centre.

“She worked with the team to create a really positive atmosphere, while also giving families and carers some much-needed respite,” Tim explains.

Fundraising on the dancefloor

Inspired by the compassion shown by hospice staff, Tim began organising daytime discos to raise funds. These include his popular Oh My Days 80s, 90s and Noughties events.

His two most recent discos have raised £3,700.

“For me, it’s about knowing the money raised is going to such a fantastic cause,” Tim says. “It’s incredibly heartwarming to know it helps patients and their loved ones at such an important time in their lives.”

Looking ahead

With another disco already planned, Tim hopes to keep the momentum going and raise even more to support local hospice care.
