Care for a Cuppa 35 – an invitation to tea

09 June 2025 | View all news

Everyone is invited to raise a mug to 35 years of care with our summer fundraiser.

We are inviting you to pop the kettle on and enjoy a cuppa for a good cause, with Care for a Cuppa 35.

You can host your own tea party, coffee morning or bake sale while raising money to fund our free expert care.

This campaign is for everyone, from home bakers to schools and local businesses.

Andrea Pugh, Community and Corporate Fundraiser, says:

“We’re hoping the summer sunshine inspires tea parties, coffee mornings and plenty of cake.

“Care for a Cuppa is all about community, friendship and the joy of getting together, while helping us continue to provide free care for years to come.”

Many of our staff and volunteers are also getting involved.

On Friday, 20 June, our Hednesford shop will hold a bake sale for customers and further shops are looking to host tea parties.

“The people of Hednesford are wonderful supporters of our hospice,” said Shop  Manager, Sarah Simpson.

“I’m sure they’ll pop in to say hello and enjoy a slice of something sweet. Maybe they’ll even pick up a smashing blouse while they’re at it!”

Support from care

On Tuesday, 22 July our Outpatients Team will host a Care for a Cuppa 35 coffee morning for carers at our Therapy & Wellbeing Centre.

“Socialising is important for both physical and mental wellbeing,” said Cathy Browning from the Outpatients Team.

“This is a lovely way to bring people together informally, celebrate 35 years of care, and raise some extra funds so we can keep doing what we do best.”

What it is all about

Andrea added:

“Whether it’s a catch-up with friends, a natter with neighbours, or a break with colleagues, people can make their events as small or as big as they like.

“It could just be a collection tin by the kettle in workplaces, or a cream tea and picnic at a summer fete.”

Thanks to our sponsor

Our Care for a Cuppa 35 appeal is sponsored by Friel Homes, a local family-run construction company.

Bill Friel, company owner said:

“Katharine House Hospice is a cornerstone of care in the area and continues to inspire us all. We’ll certainly be raising a mug of tea to help them support even more families who need them.”
