Bereavement group

Our 6-week bereavement group offers a supportive space to understand your grief, share experiences and learn ways to cope, alongside others who are facing a similar loss.

Unlike our monthly drop-in Bereavement Café, places on the Bereavement Group need to be booked in advance.

You’ll meet with the same people each week over six weeks. Meeting regularly with a small group can help you build trust, share experiences and explore grief in more depth.

Open to anyone aged 18 or over who’s experienced the death of a loved one from an incurable illness more than 12 weeks ago. Your loved one doesn’t need to have been cared for by us.

What to expect

  • A small group of up to six people
  • Gentle discussions and activities
  • Different themes each week
  • Time to talk, listen and reflect

There is no pressure to share personal experiences. You can take part as much or as little as feels right for you.

Why do I need to wait 12 weeks?

The first few weeks after someone dies can feel overwhelming. There is often a lot to manage emotionally and practically.

Waiting at least 12 weeks gives you some time to take those first steps through grief before joining a group. You may find our Bereavement Booklet helpful during this time.

When you feel ready, we’re here for you.
