Meet our leadership team
Meet the people helping shape the future of our hospice. Together, they bring expertise, leadership and a shared commitment to supporting local people and families.
We are a registered hospice charity. Our free, specialist care and support is available to adults across Stafford and surrounding areas who have a progressive, life-limiting illness. We also support patient families, carers and healthcare professionals.
We have been providing free palliative care and support to patients and their families for over 35 years.
Our clinicians and healthcare experts work closely with GP surgeries, care homes, hospitals and other healthcare providers across the region. Together, we aim to improve access to our services while sharing specialist palliative care knowledge and expertise.
All of our services are free to those who need them, yet £14,000 is needed every day to keep our services running.
We began as ‘Stafford Hospice at Home’ in 1989, before the Katharine House Hospice Day Care Unit opened in May 1993. We’ve gone from strength to strength, welcoming our first in-patient in September 2000, a ‘Drop in Day’ in 2001 and a Carers’ Group in 2004.
Today’s Katharine House Hospice continues to grow, with over 250 staff and a staggering 240+ volunteers. Together we provide care for the families of Staffordshire and the surrounding areas, and we couldn’t have done this without the support of our local community.
All of our services are offered free of charge. As a charity, we rely on the kindness and generosity of the local community to help generate two-thirds of the funds needed (more than £5 million each year) to continue our care.

When Michelle Walters thinks about our hospice, she doesn’t just remember the exceptional care her family received. She remembers the laughter, music and kindness that helped them through two of the hardest times of their lives.
For our Supporter Care Officer Carla, Walk to Remember is an opportunity to honour three very special people. She’ll be walking alongside ten close friends to remember her Mum, Cherryl, and her friends Kate and Alan, while raising vital funds for our charity.
