Walk to Remember is a special day for Gaynor and family 

“I come back every year because it keeps Adrian close to us,” explains Gaynor. “Walking alongside my family and others who understand means everything. It’s a special day for all of us.”

For Gaynor and her family, Walk to Remember has become an important way to honour her husband, Adrian Naik, who was cared for by our specialist teams.

Adrian, a former police sergeant, was widely respected by colleagues and friends. Tributes described him as “one of a kind” and a “proud officer” who had a lasting impact on everyone he worked with.

Gaynor first joined Walk to Remember in 2024, bringing 12 members of her family along to take part. They returned again in 2025 and this year hope to bring an even bigger group, with three generations walking together in Adrian’s memory.

Time to reflect and celebrate together

The walk gives the family a chance to come together, reflect, and celebrate Adrian’s life as part of a welcoming community event with a real sense of togetherness.

Gaynor told us: “During Adrian’s illness, the care and compassion the hospice provided to both of us was second to none. All the staff were wonderful and brought comfort to the whole family at an incredibly difficult time.”

The support Adrian and Gaynor received has made Walk to Remember especially meaningful for the family. It is now a tradition that brings generations together in his memory.

This year, Gaynor will be joined by her children and wider family for the walk, continuing to celebrate Adrian’s life while supporting us in recognition of the care he received.

Walk to Remember returns to the stunning grounds of Shugborough Estate on Saturday, 26 September, starting at 5.30pm.

 

The accessible 5k route follows the banks of the rivers Sow and Trent and includes step free pathways, making it suitable for everyone to take part.

 

Participants can also enjoy free parking, a special dedication display to honour loved ones, and a warm welcome for dogs.

 

Early bird tickets are available for £15 until 30 June, after which full price tickets of £17.50 will apply. Children 12 and under are free.
