Uttoxeter Cares

Our aim is to enable the people of Uttoxeter to ‘live well locally’, bringing people together for groups and activities with a focus on health and wellbeing. We want to make sure that the people of Uttoxeter have access to the support and care they need and which is available in our community. We aim to open our drop in centre Monday to Friday from 9am-5pm (opening times may vary)

Uttoxeter Cares is an innovative project started in September 2015 as a partnership between St Giles Hospice, Katharine House Hospice and the Hermitage Charitable Trust. Since opening in September 2015, we have been working with our community to find out what issues are relevant to them and we have been actively working to address these.

Driven by our community discussions we have been building an extensive support program for our community, working with local partners. We offer key hospice services such as lymphoedema clinic, bereavement support and a complementary therapy service so that people do not have to travel for these services. We also provide our space to other organisations including MS Society, Parkinson’s Support, Balance Street Health Centre and SOBS (Survivors of Bereavement by Suicide) so that they can deliver their services locally. We are committed to strengthening social connections and reducing social isolation by bringing people together for community meals and social groups and other activities.
