“I need everyone to know what an amazing place it is.”

Karl and Sarah’s wedding

When Karl Marsh’s health declined suddenly, he had one simple wish – to marry his fiancée, Sarah.

Already planning their wedding, the couple hoped it might still be possible. When Karl shared this with our team, we knew we had to do everything we could to make it happen.

Making it happen

Our inpatient team came together to arrange an intimate ceremony. With support from our volunteer chaplain, local businesses and hospice staff, our Therapy & Wellbeing Centre was transformed into a beautiful wedding space.

In just 48 hours, Karl and Sarah’s dream became a reality.

Feeling safe and supported

Like many people, Karl was unsure about hospice care at first. But those worries soon faded.

“Karl feels safe here, and he relaxes – which makes me feel safe,” Sarah said.
“I need everyone to know what a truly amazing place this is… the support is out of this world.”

What our care means

Karl and Sarah’s story shows what hospice care is really about – supporting people to live fully, with compassion, dignity and love, even in the most difficult moments.
