On Sunday 4th December, 520 local people gathered together to  walk in support of 12 local charities at the Charity Winter Walk.

The family friendly trek through the beautiful surroundings of Cannock Chase is expected to raise in excess of £16,000 to support local people.

The seasonal stroll saw experienced walkers, families and their dogs taking in a fresh and festive 4 mile circuit of picturesque Cannock Chase with added attractions including a certificate from Santa and a goody bag for the children taking part.

Katharine House Hospice Events Fundraiser, Lisa Carson said "The crisp and frosty morning brought a wonderful festive atmosphere to the Chase's beautiful surroundings. Santa delighted the children and we even had snow! (provided by a snow machine). We would like to thank all those who walked and everyone who gave up their time or donated their services to support such a magical day."

Charities who took part included A Child of Mine, Age UK Stafford & District, Carers' Association Southern Staffordshire, Citizens Advice Staffordshire South West, Holly Road Supportive Care Centre, Home-Start Stafford & District, Katharine House Hospice, The Rotary Club of Stafford, Signposts, Stafford & District Bereavement and Loss Support Service, Support Staffordshire and The Donna Louise Childrens Hospice.

Lisa added, "we hope to raise at least £16,000 for all of the charities once sponsorship is collected. Anyone who kindly collected sponsorship can return it directly to their chosen charity."
