Volunteers needed for Cannock Tea Bar

Katharine House Hospice is looking for volunteers to help run its tea bar in Cannock.

The hospice operates a tea bar situated in the Magistrates’ Court on Cannock. The bar, staffed entirely by volunteers, serves hot and cold drinks – profits from which help to fund care for local people at the hospice and in the community.

Voluntary Services Coordinator Karen Johnson said “we are in desperate need for volunteers to help us run the tea bar. Our tea bar volunteers like all our volunteers provide a wonderful service to the hospice by offering their time, helping us to raise vital funds. We rely on a small team at the tea bar who
are absolutely brilliant with regards working together to provide regular and flexible cover from Monday to Friday – but we really need more volunteers to help them ”

Katharine house Hospice relies on an army of almost 600 volunteers aged 18 to 80+ who last year kindly donated almost 56,000 hours of their time to help the hospice.

Karen said ”we really could not continue to offer our vital range of free care services without the help of our wonderful volunteers. In 2010 our volunteers were presented with the Queen’s Award for voluntary service in recognition of their tireless support. Whether working in our tea bar, our shops or the hospice itself, every volunteer makes a real difference to the lives of local people”

Katharine House Hospice relies on the kindness and generosity of local people to help provide its fee care services. Each year it costs £2.7m to provide these services and the hospice relies on local people to help fund 75% of this.
