Volunteers celebrated at special event

On Monday, 2 June, volunteers from across our charity joined staff at a special celebration evening at the White Eagle Polish Club, Stafford.

The evening was to recognise their amazing contribution to our charity and present long service awards ranging from 5 years to 25 years of service.

Thank you

Speeches from our CEO, Dr Richard Soulsby, and Director of Care, David Fletcher, highlighted just how much every volunteer’s contribution counts towards our delivery of free, expert care.

“We couldn’t provide the level of care without the support of our valued volunteers,” said David.

The evening featured food, drinks a presentation, quiz and bingo games. There were lots of prizes handed out as well.

First timers

Robbie and Sue are two volunteers who support with administration at the hospice and have become the best of friends.

Sue joined us in October and Robbie joined her in February.

“I decided I’d like to give something back and also wanted to meet new people and make new friends. This was my first Volunteers’ Evening, and it’s been great,” Sue said.

Robbie – who is also a fashion model and always a colourful character at the hospice said:

“It’s been a really good night. The fact they did the raffle and the bingo and we all had a bit of fun. It was really nice, and we got to meet some people that we haven’t met before from the shops.

“It was a fun, entertaining evening.”
