A local team of committed cyclists are taking on the epic challenge of cycling from the Eiffel Tower to the Leaning Tower of Pisa in May this year to raise much needed funds for Katharine House Hospice.

Team Spirit, who are made up of Richard Weals, Dave Weals, Stuart Black and Pete Corbett, all from Great Haywood and its surrounding villages, have a history of taking on big challenges to raise money for charities and have this year chosen to support Katharine House Hospice.

This epic journey will see the team set off frmo the UK on 18th May to rise accross Europe and through the Southern Alps, pushing themselves hard both physically and mentally to complete the challenge and arrive at the Tower of Pisa before 3rd June when they return home.

They said "We pride ourselves in having knowledge close to home regarding these charities and we keep them close to our hearts as we push to ahieve our goal. Each year we aim to do something to raise funds for those who aren't as well off as ourselves and we reach out to our community to help us along the way."

Events Fundraiser at Katharine House Hospice, Lisa Carson said "we are absolutely thrilled to have Team Spirit on board supporting the hospice this year. They are an absolutely fantastic group of guys and the challenges they take on time after time with such positive energy and spirit is inspirations. Every penny they raise will make a huger difference to the lives of our patients and their families. We really cannot thank them enough."

We wish the guys the best of luck as they prepare for their epic adventure. If you would like to find out more and to support Team Spirit you can visit their Facebook page at
