Sunday 9th October saw the return of one of our most popular events with unprecedented attendance!
Almost 800 runners lined up on the start line to take on the 10k and 5k races at Shugborough this weekend, meaning that we had an incredible 33% growth on last years' turn out, beating all previous records for the event!
It was a fantastic success; the weather was perfect and everyone was in great spirits. There were some brilliant costumes amongst the runners including Tinkerbell, Wonder Woman, Batmand and Miss Piggy!
Events Fundraiser, Lisa Carson said "On behalf of everyone at Katharine House Hospice, I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who came along and took part in this fabuous event. It was overwhelming to see so many people running in support of the hospice and every penny they raise will make a huge difference to the lives of our patients and their families. I would also like to say thank you to our army of volunteers who gave up their time to help the event run smoothly, to all of our suppliers who provided their services free of charge and to JC Race Solutions who did a fantastic job with the chip timing and online registrations."
We are hoping to raise a total of £24,000 once all of the sponsor money is in. If anyone has raised sponsorship they can hand it in at any of our hospice shops, the hospice or the Business Centre on Stafford Technology park.
We would also like to thank our sponsors, Stafford Railway Building Society. Corporate Fundraiser, Holly Addison said "Stafford Railway Building Society have sponsored the event for 8 years now. Not only do they support the event financially, meaning money raised from the event can be spent directly on care, but they also provide in-kind support in the form of volunteers to help us run the event and this year, good bags for the participants. Their support has been absolutely fantastic and we are honoured to partner with them on the event each year."
