Katharine House Hospice is inviting local people to celebrate the life of someone special as the annual Light up a Life 2016 Appeal launches.
By dedicating a light on the hospice Christmas tree, supporters are able to cherish memories of a loved one whilst providing vital support to the hospice.
Last year, over 3000 lights were dedicated on our christmas tree in memory of special people from all over the country. Your loved one does not need to have been cared for by the hospice and you can dedicate a light in memory of anyone who you love and miss at this time of year.
As well as a light shining on our tree, supporters will receive a personalised card bearing the name of their loved one, an entry into our Book of Lights and an invitation to our Lighting Up Ceremony on the 11th December 2016, with carols and prayers around the Christmas tree.
Appeals Fundraiser, Amy Ratcliffe said:
"Christmas is a difficult time for some, particularly if this is the first Christmas without a loved one. Many people find a lot of comfort in the fact that a light shines in memory of someone dear to them - it symbolises hope for the future and acts as a focal poing for cherished memories. Everyone who supports the appeal is also helping local people suffereing from progresive illnesses at Katharine House Hospice, as well as supporting their families."
The Light up a Life Appeal is being sponsored by Rowley Hall Hospital (part of Ramsay Health Care UK). Because of their kind support, all of the funds raised by donations from the appeal will go dirently to the hospice.
Rowley Hall Hospital Assistant General Manager, Alice Godridge said "We are delighted to sponsor the Katharine House Hospice Light up a Life Appeal this Christmas. Rowley Hall Hospital has an excellent long standing relationship with the hospice which provides a wonderful service for people with illnesses that cannot be cured."
"Christmas is a very special time and this appeal is a wonderful way of remembering loved ones and making Christmas extra special for local families in the hospice and the wider community."
We would also like to thank MMS Marketing who have very kindly sponsored the Light up a Life Christmas tree and have done so every year since 2003.
Corporate Fundraiser, Holly Addison said "We are so grateful for the continued and loyal support from MMS. This will be the 13th year that they have supported our Light up a Life Appeal, which is fantastic! It is such a special appeal to so many people and it is wonderful that it is supported by local businesses too!"
