On Friday 12th May we celebrated International Nurses Day!

Our Nurses and Health Care Assistants make a huge difference to the lives of our patients and their families on a daily basis. From providing medical assistance to a listening ear, they are there with our patients every step of the way and we cannot thank them enough for all that they do. In this short film Hospice Matron, Angela Marston together with Day Therapies patients, Polly & Julie, reflect on all that our Nurses and Health Care Assistants do for patients at Katharine House.

As part of the celebrations, we held a Spinathon, with 32 members of staff (including our CEO, Richard Soulsby!) getting their spin on to cycle over 100 miles throughout the day. Sponsor money is still being collected, but expect to have raised over £400.

We gave each of our Nurses and HCA’s a chocolate heart which were kindly donated by local Chocolatier, Vic Clark of Chocolate@22. They were also treated by the families of our In-patients who gave an array of cakes and chocolate to show their appreciation!
