I was born in Cardiff, moving to Cannock with my family when I was 10 years old and have lived here ever since. I’ve been married to John for 37 years and have two grown up daughters.
I started my career at Barclays Bank and then spent the majority of my working life in local government at Walsall and Birmingham Councils. Most of my public sector roles involved income collection and policy writing, eventually becoming operations manager for the Housing Management Division in Birmingham. Whilst at Walsall Council I completed my HNC in Business & Finance.
In 2006, I decided to leave local government and start my own business, becoming the first franchise owner in the Bluebird Care network of domiciliary care providers. I grew the business to operate from 3 sites with 160 employees until 3 years ago when I sold the Stafford operation and merged the other two. This allowed me to semi-retire and I aim to fully retire this year.
I enjoy travelling, touring Australia, China, Vietnam and South America as well as most European countries. Whilst at home, I enjoy walking, tennis, netball, theatre and concerts.
