Role Group: Executive Team
Chief Executive

David Fletcher became Chief Executive of Katharine House Hospice in 2026, having previously served as Director of Care since 2022.
Since joining the hospice, David has played a key role in strengthening and developing services, helping more local people and families access specialist hospice care earlier in their illness. Under his leadership, the hospice’s care teams were recognised as national finalists at the Nursing Times Awards, and collaborative work with neighbouring hospices helped establish a 24/7 palliative care advice line across Staffordshire.
David brings a broad range of experience across frontline clinical care, healthcare leadership, consultancy and education. Before joining Katharine House Hospice, he held senior leadership roles across healthcare organisations and consultancy, including supporting the creation of the London Nightingale Hospital during the COVID-19 pandemic as Chief of Staff.
His career began on the frontline as a paramedic, working across ambulance, rapid response and air ambulance services. He later progressed into senior operational and strategic leadership roles within healthcare, alongside work supporting service improvement, leadership development and healthcare education.
David’s passion for compassionate care was shaped by his own experience as a young carer for his dad, who died from a brain tumour when David was a teenager.
As Chief Executive, David is focused on protecting what makes Katharine House Hospice so special while continuing to develop and strengthen services for the future, ensuring more local people can access expert hospice care when and where they need it most.
