Fundraising at Home

Your support will make a BIG difference to local people

At Katharine House we recognise that people have different motivations, budgets, interests and time commitments and we aim to provide lots of different ways for you to support the hospice, even from the comfort of your own home!   Some easy but worthwhile ways to fundraise for Katharine House include:

  • Home collecting boxes - Collect all your loose change at home, the average box provides 1.5 hours of care
  • Recycle old mobile phones and ink cartridges
  • Donate unwanted clothes, furniture to our retail outlets
  • Organise your own event at home for example a coffee morning, open garden or a party
  • Undertake a sponsored event

Whatever you decide to do, it will make a big difference to local people who use our vital services free of charge.

For more information, support or to tell us what you plan to do to raise money, please call fundraising on 01785 270808 or email fundraising@khhospice.org.uk

Gift Aid it!

You really can help us raise vital funds for our patients without it costing you a single penny!

What is Gift Aid?

Gift Aid is a government scheme that promotes charitable giving.  It enables charities like Katharine House Hospice to reclaim basic rate tax on every pound donated by UK taxpayers. So we are able to reclaim 25p in every £1 you donate. Furthermore, for every £10 you raise through sponsorship we could get an extra £2.50.

For example:  Your £100 donation including Gift Aid equates to £125, please tick the box

How does Gift Aid work?

You can increase your donation at NO COST to you. If you are a UK taxpayer we can claim Gift Aid on your donations if you pay an amount of income tax and/or capital gains tax that is at least equal to the amount of tax that we and all other charities and Community Charity Sports Clubs will reclaim on your donation for that tax year.

We can even claim Gift Aid retrospectively, so if you are a supporter of Katharine House Hospice and have donated in the past, but have not yet completed a Gift Aid declaration, we can claim back the tax on all donations made in the last 4 years. It will also cover all future eligible donations, unless you tell us otherwise.

If all our tax-paying supporters made a Gift Aid declaration this would enable us to raise thousands of pounds for the Hospice - just from the donations they have already given.

How can I benefit?

Gift Aid could even make you better off! If you pay the higher rate of income tax, currently 40%, then you can claim tax relief for yourself

What do I need to do?

It only takes a few moments of your time. It couldn’t be simpler!
