What’s the Splatter Dash all about?
In 2014 nearly 600 supporters came along in shiny white t-shirts, white boiler suits, white knee high socks, white sweat bands etc. along with their biggest smiles to spread colour through the event.
Then it was time to get splatted with many magnificent colours at our powdered paint stations. In turn the funds raised through sponsorship help to put smiles on the faces of our patients and their families.
Who can take part?
We welcome runners of all abilities and ages. Not suitable for wheelchairs.
This fun course is a one lap 3k course which is all cross-country and there’s no traffic to worry about. The route map is attached at the bottom of this page. There will be a mass splatter during the warm up at 10.45 am. To take part, buy your splatter powder for just £2 on the day - all profits raised from sales will go directly to our hospice.
Fun and laughter
The Splatter Dash is not a race, there are no prizes for coming first. It’s not about fitness, it’s about fun and all the event obstacles are optional. It’s all about getting together with family, friends, colleagues, having a laugh and supporting YOUR hospice, Katharine House. Far from being a place of gloom and sadness, the hospice is actually a happy place filled with hope. Our team helps patients and their families make the most of the time they have left together and this is all thanks to your support. The Splatter Dash is the perfect way to celebrate and support the work we do and it’s sure to put a smile on your face too.
After the Run
We’ll have special cleaning stations to help you dust off most of the paint before you head home. We recommend that you bring wet wipes, a towel and a change of clothes for the way home. The coloured powder we are using is non-toxic, designed for children to use and is skin and eco-friendly (it’s even gluten free but we recommend not eating it!)
Is the powder safe?
The coloured powder is safe, non toxic and designed specifically with children in mind. As with any powder it is recommended that it is not inhaled and you should avoid getting it in your eyes. We recommend that you wear goggles or sunglasses and cover your mouth/keep it closed when going through the splatter stations. However it is your responsbility to take these precautions.
Thanks to Castle Estates all the funds you raise through sponsorship will go directly towards providing free care services for the patients, their familes and carers at the hospice and in the community.
We need marshals and splatter volunteers to dish out the splatting on route! If you’re up for a laugh and can help anytime between 8am and 1pm on the 29th August 2015 please get in touch at firstname.lastname@example.org or phone the Fundraising Team on 01785 270808. Please note that splatter volunteers must be at least 12 years old.
