Katharine House Hospice is registered with the Care Quality Commission and must seek Disclosures from the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as Criminal Records Bureau) for certain positions within the organisation. The Disclosure will reveal spent convictions. Katharine House has a strong Rehabilitation of Offenders policy. Failure to accurately answer questions relating to applicants being the subject of any police investigation or conviction, in this or any other country, will lead to dismissal. Applicants who may wish to hold a confidential discussion about this matter should contact the Personnel Officer or Chief Executive.
The amendments to the Exceptions Order 1975 (2013) provide that certain spent convictions and cautions are 'protected' and are not subject to disclosure to employers, and cannot be taken into account. Guidance and criteria on the filtering of these cautions and convictions can be found at the Disclosure and Barring Service website www.gov.uk/disclosure-barring-service-check
