Volunteers

The shops raise nearly £400,000 and this could not be achieved without the support of an army of volunteers who regularly come and support the Retail Team. Each shop has a salaried manager and a part-time assistant and the rest of the staff are volunteers who give their time freely. Working in the shops is interesting and varied.

• Sorting and hanging of stock
• Steaming garments
• Ticketing and sizing donations
• Cleaning and polishing shoes and handbags
• Checking toys to see all the pieces are present and in working order
• Washing and cleaning china, pottery and glassware
• Keeping the bookshelves filled
• Cleaning the shelves
• Putting up displays in the shop and window
• Working on the till
• Customer service
• Vacuuming
• Driving our retail van, collecting and delivering goods
