A place for spiritual needs

Hospice Chaplain Reverend Penny Graysmith caring for patients

Katharine House Hospice caters not solely for our patient’s physical needs but also their social, psychological and spiritual needs. These needs are provided for in many different ways and spiritual needs are largely addressed by the Hospice Chaplain Reverend Penny Graysmith. Penny delivers a high level of spiritual care for patients that request her services.

Penny provides pastoral care to patients who require it and small services can be carried out in the Hospice Chapel at the request of patients. Patients with differing religious denominations can go to Penny who will arrange other faith leaders to attend to patient’s spiritual needs. Patients with no particular religious inclination can also access Penny’s support.

In addition to supporting patients, Penny supports families both during patient’s time at Katharine House Hospice and after bereavement if necessary. Penny is actively involved in the counselling process and holds a monthly memorial service at the Hospice for recently bereaved relatives.

For more information about the Chaplaincy or to contact Penny please speak to one of the nursing team.
